The Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library Book Discussion Group is designed for all readers who want to talk about books,
and provides an informal forum for the discussion of one selected book each month.
Starting in August 2024,
the Book Discussion Group meets in the Seminar Room at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center on the fourth Thursday of every month,
except November and December, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Exceptions are noted in the meeting schedule below.
When available, books may be obtained through the San Diego Public Library System
or pick-up at the main desk of the Scripps Miramar Ranch Branch Library.
Please Note: Occasionally, the library is unable to acquire a sufficient number of copies of a Book Discussion book
in time for the Book Discussion Group meeting. As a result, the schedule of books noted below is subject to change.
We will endeavor to provide as much advance notice as possible of book list changes on this web page.
Participants are encouraged to check this web page for last-minute updates to the book list and meeting schedule.

There has been a change in the schedule due to the lack of availability of the original October selection, Norwegian Wood by Haruki Marukami.
Norwegian Wood will be discussed in December.
Thus for October's meeting the traditional Potluck Meeting, at which books are chosen for the upcoming year,
will be held in the library's Seminar Room on Thursday, October 23, at 12:30 pm.
Please bring a dish to share, and come prepared to suggest up to 3 of your favorite titles
(please make sure that there are at least 12 copies in the library system,
check to see how many "holds" the title has, and make a note of the number of pages).
New members are, of course, welcome! |

*** Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami.
For the December meeting, the group will be discussing Norwegian Wood on Thursday, December 4.
This book was originally scheduled to be discussed in October; but had to be delayed due to the lack of availability of the book in the library.
Also, another change from the normal 4th Thursday meeting date, is due to holiday season conflicts for the library's Seminar Room.
The meeting date will be Thursday, December 4.
Copies of the book will available at the circulation desk.
