The Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library Book Discussion Group is designed for all readers who want to talk about books, and provides an informal forum for the discussion of one selected book each month.

The Book Discussion Group meets in the Seminar Room at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center on the fourth Thursday of every month, except November and December, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Exceptions are noted in the meeting schedule below.

When available, books may be obtained through the San Diego Public Library System or pick-up at the main desk of the Scripps Miramar Ranch Branch Library.

Please Note: Occasionally, the library is unable to acquire a sufficient number of copies of a Book Discussion book in time for the Book Discussion Group meeting. As a result, the schedule of books noted below is subject to change. We will endeavor to provide as much advance notice as possible of book list changes on this web page. Participants are encouraged to check this web page for last-minute updates to the book list and meeting schedule.

Note: The Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center is scheduled to be CLOSED FOR RENOVATION starting sometime in 2026. When the Scripps Ranch Library closes, Book Discussion Group meetings will be held at the Mira Mesa Library (8405 New Salem St. San Diego — Mira Mesa, CA 92126) on the fourth Thursday of the month at noon. When the closure date is announced by the City, this announcement will be updated.
